Observing Humans
All for which I am stoked for. I'm especially stoked for photo and observing humans because photo is this unknown territory for me that I think will help with my composition, and I observe humans all of the time anyways... so it'll be interesting to find out if people make the same discoveries as I do. I'm reading a book right now for that class, and in the first chapter they're talking about what I've actually been exploring lately: performances people put on when around the influence of other people. That's what I really got a glimpse of when on the Canada trip, because we were all away from the influence of other people... it was interesting to say the least.
I've been interested in composition, but I've recently became very interested in composition, shape and form after talking to Jason about art and after the Canada trip. We also talked about timelessness, but that is a whole other part of art.
When I was younger, I didn't even think about composition. I did it and I cared about it-- but I didn't take conscious notice of it. Now that I care a lot (composition can really make or break an art piece), I think I'll see some growth in my work.
I'm a little scared about school because of my poor time management skills coupled with working at the pita pit and the fact I like to sleep. And also taking time to do necessary things like grocery shopping and art supply shopping.
It's just difficult to want to get things done.
I have to finish 6 full value thumbnails by Thursday and read 80 pages of my observing humans book by Friday. I'm confident that this shit will get done, but damn it. It can be so annoying. Especially when I'm not that excited about doing a pencil drawing of accordions going into distance in a bunch of different perspectives. It can be so boring after drawing it at least 30 times.
Homn, the woes of art school, I suppose. I should should start my experimental project. Ahhhhhhhhh.
