Good: I got accepted into MICA! Wunderbar!
Bad: No scholarship for me for SVA. SHIT. I really really want to go there too. Shitty shit shit on a stick made of shit. Shit.
Anyways, I think my school finally mailed my UArts app. Uggghhhhhh. This was such a downer. I knew I was gonna get accepted into MICA, but shit dood. I want SVA. And I know I'll be accepted at UArts-- and probably get a scholarship there too. Especially now that my portfolio's more complete (I have loooots of figure drawings now and also a few more paintings). Well, I'm gonna visit the SVA campus on Thursday and then also I'm gonna have to schedule a portfolio review with UArts soon, once they get my application. I have until April 1st if I want a scholarship. I hope to schedule it like... Next week or the week after. My newest painting should be dry by then.
Hmmm. UArts and MICA aren't so bad. I'd have the most friends going to UArts (James, Nick Maimone, Jessie, Josh, possibly Ian, Nick Deacon, and multiple others), but a really good friend of mine is going to MICA (Eileeeeen :D), and only a friend/aquaintance of mine is currently enrolled at SVA (Kim Yau... we used to be better friends, but grew apart).
There are ups and downs for all of these schools.
Here we go:
SVA
+ It's in freaking NYC
+ Because it's in NYC, I'll have the most opportunities and the art scene up there is fab
+ One of my favorite illustrators is a professor there
+ One of the top ranked schools
- No scholarship
- Cashmoney D:
- Not many friends, but oh well
- Tiny bit far, but who cares
MICA
+ Really fantastic facilities
+ The dorms are something to behold... they're basically apartments
+ Pets are allowed on campus
+ Eileen is going there!!!
+ Cafeteria's good
+ One of the top ranked schools
+ I can take my car
/ Don't know about the money situation yet
- I don't really like their campus... there's no energy and lots of homeless people lurking
- I've heard like, horror stories about how shady it is
- Even though I can take my car, the roads are weird
UArts
+ Because it's so close to home, I can visit Viviiiiii
+ Lots of friends are going
+ I hear the dorms are nice
+ I will probably get a scholarship
+ I hear the illustration department is pretty good (but so are the other schools')
+ The city is lively
- It's close to home anddddd... I kinda wanna break away? At least it's in the ci-tay
- I honestly haven't really heard of any really super successful illustrators come from that school... Like, seriously. Besides the Berenstein Bears. Have any of you?
- Not many art teachers have recommended it to me, which saddens me.
Do you see my dilemma?
MICA possibly has the best facilities and dorms, but I don't like their location that much.
UArts is probably gonna give me cashmoney and in a good location, but it doesn't have that many well-known alumni for illustration, which worries me.
SVA is the best of the three because of the opportunities as well as location, but I'm getting no money for it.
Aaaaaggghhhhh.
