Pss. Eragon/Eldest have to be the worst books ever. Atrocious cliche of a story. I am trying to get through Eldest. Reading it is like taking a test of patience and endurance. That is how bad the book is. So far I have only encounted a few enjoyable pages... but that is it. The characters are bad. The story is cliche. Lord.
I went onto the website Shurtugal and listened to some of Chris's interviews... He seems like a nice guy, but his formula for a good story was all wrong.
Here it is:
Languages idea from Tolkien's LotR series + Some Dragons and elves and stuff + Angsty misunderstood Renegade + Orcs renamed as Urgals + Noble once poor now almost royalty hero + Whatever else the fantasy genre has become known for and is mostly loved for = Eragon (in Chris's opinion), but in my opinion is equals SUCK.
Probably the whole reason I hate the series so much is because it has no new material. It's a bunch of old concepts and morals and cliches all thrown into one pot. I like new things, even if they may be quirky and bad. But at least there's that try! That risk! Shit. I want to write a book. I wish I knew how to outline plots more effectively. And I wish I had more patience.
But I am getting more patience. Thanks to Eragon. I continue to read it, patient to get to the end without returning it to the store before I'm done.
Which is exactly what I shall do. I'm getting my frickin 20 dollars back.

I'm reading eldest too. i agree everything about the elves is straight from Lord of the Rings. The only interesting parts are some of the magic... but thats pretty old too.
PS. have you read midnighters? cuz midnighters fanart would be amazing.

Your David is awesome!! And the avatar you made out of the picture is really cool too. My only thing is that I think the highlights in his hair should be a tab bit less blonde. But who cares!!! It's such an awesome picture his hair could be blue for all I care!!

He's out in the sun all the time, so I figured it'd be realistic that he'd have some natural highlighting. My friend Kae Lani is Native american and she gets some really striking blonde highlights in the summer.
